Fish, Flavor and Fun
This is going to seem odd, but I'm actually not a huge fan of fish dishes. I know, I know, I'm doing a review about a fish restaurant and telling you all how good the food is there, but they have something for everyone. Co-workers of mine love to go to this place because they are really into eating fish. There are some unique dishes offered at Billingsgate and I'm certain my friends and loved ones have tried them all.
I'm almost living vicariously through them in a sense. I don't really enjoy fish, but they do. So I see how much they're loving their dishes and just imagine I'm doing the same. That said, I do like having Caesar Salad and Chips there (not quite your fish and chips variety, but it works for me).
The location is fairly nice, the building is an interesting shape (it looks like a mini-lighthouse) and the inside completely feels like you're in a coastal town restaurant. There are various tanks with live fish and lobsters in them. Not only can you sit down and have a meal but you can also buy some fish on your way out that you can cook at home.
Billingsgate is a great place to grab a meal. It's a very comfortable place to go and is definitely worth a try. Seeing all of the coastal decorations on the inside kind of makes you feel like you're somewhere other than the snow-covered Edmonton (I know this review won't apply if you're reading it in the summer, but I needed to vent about the weather somehow). I highly recommend this place.
